WEDDED LIFE WEDNESDAY: Tip #2

Now that we've established that you should keep some mystery in your relationship, what else would I advise?  Remember, I've been married 33 years!  To the same person!

Tip No. 2:  Find a good role model for marriage.  Don't rely on TV or movies for a picture of what marriage should be like.  In this day where more marriages fail than not, where do you look for an example?  If there isn't a good example in your own family, look to your circle of friends or colleagues.  Find out how long some of them have been married, and then if they have a happy marriage.  If so, then PICK their BRAINS!

We were very blessed to have had parents who have stayed married for many years.  Even though no marriage or family is perfect, just the act of staying together shows a commitment to keeping promises.

I'm not trying to be judgmental, mind you.  I know there are many situations that make it impossible for a couple to stay together.  However, don't most couples intend to stay together when they walk down the aisle?  I'm just suggesting some strategies for doing so. Find your role models, talk to them, and see if there is anything that you could incorporate into your own relationship.

Stay tuned!
XOXO
